Why I Wouldn’t Travel to the Moon

I never dreamed of going to the moon as a child. As an adult, I still have no wish to travel there. I can’t put a price on something I neither need nor desire.

If someone were to offer me the chance to make the trip for free, I’m pretty sure I’d pass. I would never consider paying to take part in such a high-risk endeavour.

There’s magic in looking up at the moon on a cold, clear night. Seeing the cratered face that never turns away from us. Imagining how still and peaceful it must be there.

A visit would take away some of that magic.

So I’ll stay here.
