About Me

“If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There’s nothing behind it.”

– Andy Warhol

The above quote is one of my favourites, and I think it applies to all creative people. So, if you’re really curious about me, I suggest you explore the blog and my social media. You’ll soon start to form an idea of who I am.

Disclaimer: I don’t compare myself to Andy Warhol in any way.

About This Blog

I’ve had several blogs over the years, including personal ones and ones relating to businesses. This is the only remaining public blog I maintain. It was started in 2015, and has changed a lot in terms of its appearance and published content.

I think of it as being like a mountain stream, beginning with a single trickle of water from a spring, finding its way down through the hills and meandering along with no real direction until a rill began to form. It’s a long way from being a river, and is nowhere near the sea yet. Sometimes it dries up for a while, but so far it has always come back.

What you see today has been through several iterations as my interests and personal goals have shifted over the years. The publishing schedule has waxed and waned, and there have been years where I haven’t posted at all. As part of a recent review and subsequent pruning exercise, I identified four post categories containing some nice content that might genuinely be useful or entertaining for others. Going forward, I’ll be dropping more content into these.

Comments Are Disabled

Sharp-eyed folks might notice that comments are disabled. This is deliberate. Sadly, my experience with comments has been negative for a long time, both as a giver and receiver of them. There are exceptions out there, but the vast majority I come across are of little-to-no value, saying things like, “dope post” or “thanks, now check out my blog”.

It feels like the days of blogs being prime vehicles for online engagement are over, except for a few sites with large established communities who are passionate about a niche topic. For the rest of us, social media is where most of the conversation now happens.
